Question Hurst Billet Plus shifter and question needing verification.

For those of you who own this shifter w/ the angled stick. Is it true you can adjust not only the gates east and west to make them closer but also the tension by removing the springs to make the shifting process smoother? I bought mine a few years ago and it takes a act of god to shift the thing compared to my old B&M. Didn't come w/ any instructions either (not like I needed them but maybe I did). All I did was swap them out. A friend has the same shifter here and it's like butter. Granted my stick is stupid short like 3.5 total from the base but still....it's hard as hell which I actually like since it deters the inspectors from even driving the car.

SO how true is it can those springs be removed to make the shifter feel smoothe like butter or are those springs for something else I'm not aware of?

Thanks!

Yup, you can change the spring tension. It comes with 2 springs for 1-2 gate and 1 spring for 5-6 gate. Hurst sells a spring kit with different rates to custom tailor. A stick that short will make it hard to use.... may want to consider some thing a little longer say 6in. range.

hm, i have a hurst billet plus and never heard of these spring kits, where can you buy them? and how can you tell what springs you have in it?
what will the new springs do, make the side - side shorter, or the actually shifts?

I would imagine you can get them direct from Hurst, I dont have the paper work on hand but I remember seeing a p/n for the kit. The springs dont shorten the throw either way it just increases the tension side to side. The purpose is to make it shift the way U want. Example 1: the 2-3 shift, sometimes you stik it in 1st. You can put heavy springs on the 1-2 gate to force the stick in to the neutral position, this allows getting into 3rd more thoughtless. Example 2: You overshoot and stick it in 5th, you can put an extra spring on the 5-6 gate. This will help the stick stay in the neutral position and easily enter 3rd.

Bias spring part number

The bias spring kit for the Billet Plus shifter is part number 230 5000. It is only available from Hurst. I dont see it on the website so you may need to phone the order in.
