how would u replace tranny fluid return line from radiator
There is a leak in my tranny fluid return line from the cooler up at the front of my car. Is dropping the tranny needed to replace this? And also the back of the tranny has a verrrrrrrry small leak somewhere around where the driveshaft connects to. Is that normal? I was in the process of installing long tubes, and the tranny fluid line got zapped from the starter wire, because i forgot to unhook the battery. (had to move car). Im thinking if the tranny needs to be dropped i would b better off getting a rebuild because it was sometimes slipping here and there. dammit this could end up being really expensive.
Any ideas? O yeah where would i get the return line too. thanks

If you have room, you might try cutting the line at the hole and putting a compression union there to join the line back together.
Re: how would u replace tranny fluid return line from radiator
thanks shoebox. Do you think it would hold up to the PSI in the line? I really hope it would because i dont want to start shelling out a ton of $ on this. And also how would you go about cutting the line... air cutoff tool? O yeah and what size compression union would i need.
Re: how would u replace tranny fluid return line from radiator
I think it should hold up. If it doesn't, you will have to find another option.
5/16" is the tubing size. I would use a mini tubing cutter, if possible. You don't want any metal getting in the fluid.

ok thanks, i picked up a 5/16" compression union. Is there any sealent that i would need, or does it just thread onto the tubing. thanks

I think the operation was a success! I cut it with the mini pipe cutter and assembled it like you said. seems like it worked! thanks shoebox! Now lets hope it will hold up.
