How to tell, PWM from non PWM Peformabuilt 4L60E??

I have a 94 Z28 and when I got it there was no engine "fixer upper". It has a performabuilt tranny in it. How can i tell if this tranny is the PWM tranny from the 95 and newer? I'm getting the code 83 TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Fault but I think my pcm is from a 95. I don't know if the problem is that the pcm is newer and thinks it has the PWM tranny or if I really do have the 95 up PWM tranny. There has to be a way to tell i would think.

Well you could drop the pan and look and see if the solenoid is there. But heres the deal If the trans was a 95 PWM in a 94 NON PWM you would not get a PWM solenoid code. You just would not have lockup. The fact that your 94 car is setting a code at all for PWM proves two things. The trans is not PWM and the PCM is incorrect for the 94 or it could not show that code to start with.
So the reason you are showing the code is because you have a 95 pcm in a 94 car. In fact even if the trans had the solenoid it would not matter since the cars wiring harness does not even have a wire for the solenoid in it.

That makes total sense. I checked the wiring on the blue plug to the pcm and it does have the wire for the TCC lockup but it doesn't have the wire for the PWM. Will everything still work like it should with it throwing that PWM code since the wiring and tranny doesn't even have the PWM?

I am not sure, At worst you will not have lockup. I would get the correct PCM or possibly send that one off and have it flashed to a 94

Ok well I have another pcm on the way so I'll see what it does. Just wondering though, say the tranny is a PWM tranny, is there something that can be done to it or the valve body that will make it a non PWM or at least a way to make the torque converter lock like it's supposed to? Either send the valve body to you or do it myself if I'm able

If we sold it as a 94 it will be set up correcty for a 94 if you can get the build number off the rear of trans top just in front of tail housing or the original purchasers name I can verify it for you.
