How to tell if rear end bearings are going bad?

I'm having some noise coming from the passenger side rear wheel. It happens only when I go over bumps or dips and only on that side, the driver side doesn't make this noise. I've replaced my springs and shocks so I'm sure it's not that, I'm wondering if it could be a bearing. Is there a way to test if it's the bearings? How difficult is it to replace them? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
