how to tell if the PP is bad?
how to tell if the PP is bad?
I need to at least replace the disk(it's a spec...enough said) but I need to know if I can just get a new disk or if i have to replace everything. How can I tell if the pressure plate is bad?
If I can use the pressure plate again, do I have to go with a spec disk, or can I use any disk I want??
I'll hopefully have pics of the PP up soon if they will help any.

Re: how to tell if the PP is bad?
If you have a Haynes manual, they have some photos in there of when you should replace the pressure plate. Basically if you have uneven or excessive wear on the fingers or if some of them are bent, it should be replaced. Also check the surface for imperfections.

Chances are the PP is fine, you can have it resurfaced by a clutch specialist to remove high spots. It seems that LT1 disks in general die much sooner than PP's. PM me if you want the number to local specialist who can reman the PP. He took my old LT1 PP and resurfaced and painted, it was almost too pretty to install.
