How much HP can the 02' stock rear end handle?

How much HP can the 02' stock rear end handle?
How much horsepower/torque can the stock 2002 Z28 rear end handle? What would be considered the "safe" zone?
From what I've been reading, they can't handle much more than the stock HP.
I'm getting an 02' Z28 soon, and my initial goal is to get around 350HP out of it, with a long term goal of 400HP a few years down the road.
Just curious...
