From http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/weights.htm
460.9 lbs - LS1 (5.7L) Manual with oil and flywheel
405.5 lbs - LS1 (5.7L) Auto with oil and flexplate
So it seems the T56 combo weighs ~55 pounds more then the auto combo.

If concerned with weight the stock TC is very heavy and a good Edge, Vigilante or Yank 9.5" can shave a bunch of rotating weight like a good 20+lbs.. The manual will exibit less parasitic loss though it does not have to pressurize and pump oil like the auto does. Point being that there is more to this than which weights more.

There is a flywheel and clutch in Bret's shop that I could weigh tomorrow. Flex plates are maybe 15-20 lbs lighter that manual flywheels, so my guess is that the total difference won't be a lot. I'd guess the large converter/flexplate maybe a 10-15 lb heavier.
lons94Z, why do you ask?

I was moving around my 700R4 with the stock converter in it. I doubt it had over 400 pounds. Even though those numbers are for LS1s, the difference can't be that much from an LT1. They are probably off.

My SPEC flywheel for my T56 feels like it weighs about the same a torque converter.
I should go weigh my T56 since it is sitting on the garage floor.
I know the T56 isn't too heavy since my brother can lift it up into the car lying under the car.

I just my took 4L60E off last week and I would say that it weighs about 90lbs and the converter was heavier than I thought at about 45lbs.

According to this site.
The 4L60-E weighs 176 pounds with oil.
So then the LS1 weighs 405.5-176 or 229.5 pounds? That seems aweful light, but if you can prove its true please do.
