now how much power and abuse will this thing handle ? i know the 28 spline axles and non-nodular center are weak spots, but will it handle 500 hp launches on slicks? is it worth picking up for $1300

 

for that much money I would save and get something better......aluminum center and 35 spline axles probly a locker.....it is a bit overkill but a good pc. of mind

The one you desribed will probly be o.k. but I would pull it down every few years and inspect everything....

 

The vega in my picture to the left has a stock non nodular center section, spool and 35 spline axle's. I don't think you will break the 28 spine with 500hp. I think that is a good deal.
