How loud are your 4.10's?
For those of you with 4.10's in your stock rear, i am wondering if your setup makes noise, and if so, how much. We just finished my install today, and I was expecting some noise since it was a used Motive gear set. I used a ratech install kit and solid pinion spacer. backlash ended up being .009, decent pattern and correct pinion depth. They really arent that loud, mostly only noticeably on decel with the radio off and when i cant hear it over my open exhaust
. I am probably just paranoid, but am wonderig if your gears that whine make a slight howl at higher speeds and on decel,
Thanks
Brandon

they dont automatically make noise...my buddy has 4.10s in his SS and they are dead silent....it all depends on how good the install job is...
BTW most gears wont be terribly loud (if set up well)unless theyre richmonds (almost always noisy).

When I bough my Z28 the 4.10's did whine some. After the dealer replaced the pinion seal the whine was gone, Problem was I think they messed up the pattern or backlash because there was more play. I'm pretty sure thats why they broke when I never used anything but street tires at the track and the broke after ~6 months. My new moser 12 bolt does whine. But I think they used richmond gears(came with stickers and warranty card). The whine is no worse than when I got the car and you can't hear it unless the radio is off.
