How hard is your clutch pedal?

Hello all, I recently bought a 94' Trans Am, and am loving it. Only problem is, I'm finding the clutch pedal pretty heavy. My leg will be tired after a 15 city drive, and I find it so 'heavy' that I'm getting into the habbit of putting it in neutural at lights.

Are all LT1 clutches heavy? Or can I lube mine up any? The clutch fluid looks to be at a fine level.

Thanks.

I get tired of holding mine down at lights and put it in neutral, but have never gotten worn out driving it.

This the first manual you have driven alot?

Yep, my previous car was an auto. Thankfully, my father's truck is a standard, and I learnt on it before buying the TA.

The clutch pedal in my fathers truck is VERY VERY light. I'd say it takes 4x less muscle to engage it. It's an 86' mazda B2000, with a 4 banger, so that might have something to do with it.

Re: How hard is your clutch pedal?

yah I and everyone else that has driven my 95 formula says its very hard to push in. I don't know why but its always been very heavy, and gets to be a pain in haevy traffic. Fo some reason my 01 TA is actualy much much easier to push in, and its not just mine, while searching for an LS1 I found them all to be easier, maybe they changed something. Being out in Los Angeles traffic is the worst even with the LS1, I was just stop and go on the freeway for an hour and half-it was hell on my leg, started to cramp a little bit. Just figure its a good workout for your left leg.

man, you need to go hit the gym jk man, if its the first manual car your not used to it, give it a while. All the lt1 pressure plates are the same so all of the pedals will be about the same. I have a spec stage III and it is about the same as stock, although it has a 6 puc carbon/ceramic disc that bites! To answer you question it takes 63 neutons to push down my clutch pedal Well maybe not, were doin all this **** in physics right now tho

Re: How hard is your clutch pedal?

Camaros use a hydraulic clutch setup, which feels pretty heavy to most people. A lot of other cars use a mechanical linkage, which is a lot easier to operate. Also, the parts for the clutch in Camaros are heavier than you usually see in your typical 4 cylinder. If I'm stuck at a light for awhile, I just stick it in neutral.

On 4th gens, I don't think so. I know that LT1 slave cylinders are accessible from underneath the car, where on the 3.8 and LS1 you have to drop the trans.
Never heard much about 3.4s.
