how do i know which # carrier i have?

on my 93z i have stock 2.73 gears id presume, (2-d-od) shift pattern. how do i know if i have a auburn or torsen carrier and which number. i was looking at buying 3.73s or 3.42s but im not sure if they will fit with my stock carrier. thanks

Since you've got 2.73's, then you have a 2-series carrier (3-series is for 3.23's and up), but you can order just about any gear ratio to fit onto a 2-series carrier.

As far as what type of diff it is, I *think* that the Torsen's weren't used 'til the later model 4th-gens, so I would guess and say you've probably got the Auburn (which is better IMO).

If you do get 3.73's make sure they are for a 2 series carrier.. They are not interchangeable.. yes get the install kit as well.. probably cheaper than ashop would charge ya for it...
