how can you run a '97 4L60-E in a '95?
Curious. I have a perfectly fine 4L60-E getting ready for a retrofit into another car. The trans is from a '97 LT1 car, and the car is a '95. I've been told that there is wiring and solenoids that are different between the two and they would need to be changed in order for the trans to upshift.
Can anybody tell me exactly what needs to be changed so I can go order them from GM? Thanks in advance.
Also curious, would there be any issue running a 700-R4 lockup converter and corvette servo in one of these as well? I'm not sure if this trans already has a shift kit in it, but considering how well it shifted in the car it was in, how clean it was, and the fact that I got it for free with a 3200 converter in front of it, makes me think it does

Yes you can use a 97 trans in a 95 with no problem. 93 and 94 were the different years where you need to use the corrisponding PCM.
You can use a 700R4, but it's not just a plug and play like the 4L60E.

That's cool. So I dont have to change any wires or valves in the valve body huh? Cool. One less thing to worry about. Adding both a VSS and mechanical cable drive to the tailshaft was hard enough.
So I'm also assuming the lockup 700-R4 converters are the same as 4L60-E converters and servo's are the same as well?
You just put a smile on my face...haha thanks!

700R4's are like the early 93 models (4L60). They do not lock up electronically, they lock up based on hydraulic pressure and stuff. Otherwise, yes, they are virtually the same trans, just minor differences.

Hold on. Something aint right here. '96 and up cars are OBDII and 94 and 95's are OBDI. '93 was the only year of the 4L60 in the Fbody.
I guess I should have said, can you use an OBDII 4L60-E in an OBD I car? That would make more sense. The harness is a '95, the PCM is '94. shouldnt matter. I read ur post again and it made it seem like u thought I was using a 700 or a 4L60.
If I'm just freakin, I apologize

All you would have to do to put a 97 trans in a 95 is to swap the speed sensor harness, I put a 97 in my 94 and just had to swap speed sensor pig tails and it works fine, had it in my car for close to 2 years now with no problems.
