HOW can u TELL???

HOW can u TELL???

Ok i just pulled my axles out to take a look at my wheel bearings and they look fine. Is there anyway i can tell if they are bad or not. I dont want to take them out and them end of being good since i dont have the slide hammer and have to rent it.

Also the guy that I purchased the car from previously got the diff fluid changed and said it didnt whine before it was done. I looked at the paperwork from the shop and all it sais is 3.5qts of 90 diff oil nowhere does it sais the posi additive. Could this be the cuplrit if they didnt add any??? need help quick since i have the car torn apart and I got two days to fix thanks

also pinion seal was replaced, just noticed this. Saying that a retard mechanic didnt install the nut properly could i just go ahead check and torque it at what it is suppose to be????? ANYBODY??

It's not so much as a torque as it is a feel. The pinion nut is tightened until the correct preload is obtained on the bearing. If it is overtightened your rear will whine. There is a crush sleeve in play here as well, you can't simply loosen the pinion nut. If it's too tight you'll need a new crush sleeve. you have to have the differential out to get the pinion nut set right.

well dang! i dont want to take the whole assembly out since ive never installed gears before.
