How to beef up Stock rearend????
How to beef up Stock rearend????
I have all my mods listed below and ive also added a set of M/T ET street drag radials(very awesome tire by the way). MY problem is i blew my stock carrier up with these tires. Now i need to get a new center section. I have 4:10's to go in for it and i took the axle's out and they are perfect. My question is with the rearend in there now what is the best way to beef it up??? (keep in mind im on a budget). Detroit locker? Eaton Posi? and is it possible to upgrade from the 7.5 to an 8.5 in the stock housing?? Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated.

i'm not sure about upgrading from a 7.5 to a 8.5 in the stock housing but i would go with a eaton posi. Or another option is to replace it with another used stock posi and save up for a 12 bolt or 9"
Re: How to beef up Stock rearend????
Probably the only thing worth doing is getting one of those cast covers with the pre-load bolts. They do stiffen the entrie housing and they do help to prevent deflection under hard acelleration.
Ultimately, it's not really worth putting a bunch of money into one of those rears. At lease, not in MY opinion. But that's just me.
