High stall converter

I have a 94 Z28 and the transmission went out AGAIN. Ive been interested in a high stall converter and figured this is as good a time as any to spring for one but I am unsure as to the appropriate stall I should go with. The guy at the shop recommended 2500. What will give me the best performance without being a pain in the *** on my daily driver and without doing harm to my tranny?

Re: High stall converter

I think 2800 is very good choice. I have a vigilante stall and i would not buy any other converter. I also had the tranny upgraded a little too.

Re: High stall converter

Would 2800 be better performance than 2500 and still be good for a daily driver?

Re: High stall converter

dont know if it matters but Im running a 2800-3000 stall on my 87 305 and it drives like normal on the street so it cant be any different on your car.

Re: High stall converter

Also, if you are that worried about tranny damage as a result of a high stall converter, a tranny cooler and trans temp gauge are a cheap insurance policy. I have had several friends running 2800 stalls in their cars with no drivablity problems whatsover.

Re: High stall converter

2800 to 3000 stall is easy to live with, I had one on my 94Z, it was a TCI unit.
Car hooked well and ran great till I broke the tranny again.
I have decided to go TH400 now and be done with it.
