help with my 700r4
I have a 1993 camaro z28 with im almost positive a 700r4. When i first got the car with 92,XXX miles it shifted fine and firm and now its 114,XXX miles. If i took off from the light i could get 2nd gear to chirp. A couple weeks ago at night I hit some sheet metal which i think was house siding. The shifter then became really loose and slopping. I found that the locking tab of the cable by the shifter had broke. I fixed that with a hose clap and its been working fine and fixed the sloppy shifter. I went to drive the car the other day and when the car shifted to 2nd it felt like someone had smacked the underside of my car with a sledge hammer.
I'm guessing its slipping. It just seems so soon to start slipping that hard without any symptoms, but who knows I'm kind of new to the car world and may not have noticed the symptoms. One thing i did notice is on cold days right when i put my car into reverse the rpms would drop a couple from like 800-900 rpm to 500 or so, then go back to 800-900. once it was warmed up or warm outside i really wouldnt have that problem.
Any suggestions would be very helpful and i appreciate. Im planning on pulling it out and rebuilding the whole thing myself so before i do i would like some opinions.
