Help with drivetrain noise

1997 Z28 AT, 201k miles.

I hear a 'whirling' noise when I am accelerating. The harder I accelerate the louder it gets. It's not a whining, roaring, rumble, or anything I have heard before. Sounds a little like a turbo but not that high a pitch. It's hard to narrow down exactly where it is coming from because I have a Borla catback without block-off plates, so it is a little loud.

I checked the tranny fluid even though it shifts great. It was at the proper level and looked and smelled OK. What do you think? I have a Racetronics fuel pump. Could that be it? Thanks.
