help clunking noise

hey guys, I need help figureing out this clunking noise in my 6 speed. Yesterday I left my buddies house and got into it, for some odd reason it hooked really hard then I got out of it to go around a turn and got back into the gas and started clunking really bad it sounds like its coming from the rear of the transmission like the tailshaft area. The noise goes away when I lift of the throttle and coast but once I hit the gas it clunks and get worse faster I go. I check the u-joints and look good. Anybody have any ideas?
thanks
