of the 3.08,3.23,& 3.42, the 3.08 would be considered the higher gear.
3.08-lower rpm at cruising(in 5th),less felt torque(less acceleration ability).
3.42-higher rpm at cruising(in 5th),more felt torque(more acceleration ability).

well just to let everyone know i replaced the rear end myself with a assembly out of a 98 firebird with the 3.41 ratio it works fantastic!!!
