Ok well my mods are in sig. Stock type 4l60e tranny. Well I went to the track for the first time on Friday Night and Something happened to the tranny. I made around 4 or 5 passes then the tranny started screwing up. Well I was making a run down the track and it's like it wouldn't shift into 2 then it finally did and started sparaticaly shifting. So I quit racing and let it sit thinking maybe it was just hot. So on the way home in the car the tranny was slipping real bad and jumping around rpm levels like I was revving the motor but I had the pedal at constant. Also if I tried to speed up the car would kind of rev but it wouldn't move. I don't know jack about trannies so where should I start. Should I just shell out 1000.00 for a racing tranny? Or try to fix this one.

 

Um...It sounds like it might be toasted. Does the fluid smell burnt? What color is the fluid? If it's black, or brown, you're probably looking at a rebuild.

Oh ya its done. Fluid is black you can smell burnt clutches and when I was limping it home every once in a while it would pop really loud. like something was getting hit. Do you think The stock Tranny can't handle the Hp. I figure I am only putting down maybe 350 or so. Maybe I should just convert it to six speed since it will be about the same to get it rebuil as it would to get a 6 speed convertion.

 

You might want to really work those price comparison numbers. We build a Race 4L60E that you can throw whatever you'd like at for $1400.
