Heavy duty parts?

I want to make my car more reliable, and if I can pick up some speed at the same time then thats great, but for the most part I want my car to be bulletproof. Are there any aftermarket/gm parts that I can replace my stock transmission parts (gears, clutch, flywheel, etc...) with that will make it more reliable? I hear the rear-end is pretty weak, is there a rear-end I can buy that will have longer life? etc...etc...
