having problems setting up Summit gears

I am installing a set of Summit Racing 3.73 gears in my brother in laws 2001 WS6. He bought a full install kit with bearings and all. The thing is growling like no other, and we cant figure it out. I have had the pinion at .030, .035 (factory) and .040. The pattern looks the best at .035. The pattern on the coast side of the gear is right where it should be but the pattern on the drive side just does not look right. No matter what pinion depth we have the pattern on the drive side pretty much stays the same. I am constantly setting the backlash at .008 to .010 every time we put the carrier back in. We have all new bearings installed.

We also have a pinion depth checker, but the readings from the tool are conflicting with our pattern, this thing is really starting to **** me off.

Anyone have any problems with the Summit gears?
