Having a hard time shifting quickly, and need HELP ASAP!

So I noticed the last couple times I had my Z28 out that it was difficult to shift quickly. Specifically I don't even have to be getting on it, but just trying to shift quickly its as if the clutch feels like it is hanging up or something. The shifter just doesn't want to smoothly and quickly shift into gear, it almost stops or clunks when passing the nuetral position or between shifts. This happens in every gear, and I can force it through it, but it is difficult and a pain.

The clutch is a new SPEC stage 3+, and has been properly broken in, and has a few thousand miles on it with no problems thus far. I even tracked the car once with no issues, and it wasn't until just recently that I noticed this.

Any help? I am not too knowledgable in the drivetrain department, and I would like to get this resolved before the shootout in a few days.

It may be possible that the pressure plate is not releasing all the way. One thing to check - make sure the clutch fork is 100% on the throwout bearing, which I would assume it is. Is it easy to shift through the gears when the engine is off?

It goes through the gears just fine when the car is off. Its just after you've made the initial engagement into first gear that I have the problem from there on out in every gear to include reverse.

I have a brand new adjustable master cylinder ready to go in soon. While that is being installed, I will look at the clutch fork.

The new Tick Performance adjustable master cylinder is now installed, and I still am having the same problem. While the new adjustable master was being installed, the shifting fork was looked at, but it "looks" like it is fine (although I don't know if it is one of those things that can be bent and still look almost exactly the same as if it is 100% or not).

Try "double clutching" it. If that makes it easier then I would think that the synchros are in need of replacement.
While you are under the car, check the tranny fluid and tranny mount.

This happened all of a sudden, and it happens in every single gear to include reverse. There is no "grinding" noise going into gears. It's not the syncros.

Tranny fluid is good, and the mount is still looking fine.

"Double clutching" makes no difference.

Your issue certainly sounds like the clutch is not disengaging(wanted to make sure and post it in your thread and not mine).

Can you pull slave cylinder and replace the spacer with some bolt sleeves or something to allow you to see if the plate is pulling out from the disk when the clutch pedal is depressed?

^ I don't know if that is a possibility.

Did the new master cylinder come with a new slave cylinder? If not, install a new slave cylinder. If you are still having issues I would suspect a faulty throwout bearing or pressure plate (I would lean more towards the pressure plate). I know your SPEC clutch kit is new, but it is very possible to have a faulty part. Let us know what you find.

Slave cylinders are pretty cheep, so I actually bought and installed a new one before I purchased the new adjustable master cylinder . Like the master, it seemed to make no difference.

How difficult is it to check the throw out bearing and pressure plate? Will it be obvious by looking at them that they are bad? Or is this something that I will need to throw more parts at?

Unfortunately you have to pull the transmission to inspect them. Once the parts are removed you can inspect them for damaged/broken components. Did you bleed the clutch hydraulic system of all air?

Feel free to give me a call sometime and bring the car over to my house if you don't figure it out. Saturday afternoons work best for me... let me know!
