Grinding noise coming from rear end...
Grinding noise coming from rear end...
Hey fellaz this is my first post on this board... and I need some help. To make a long story short... I took my 89 Z28 to a shop to get a new rear end and they somehow screwed up my car... I needed a wheel bearing because I was getting a humming noise coming from the rear. The mechanic suggested buying a Bearing Kit (because I also had a leak) and getting it installed. So I agreed.
The first day I picked up my car from the shop after the repairs were done... I heard a lound "winding" noise coming from under my car. The more I would accelerate the more louder the winding would get. So I took it back and the mechanic said "it's (the winding noise) normal because the fluids have to travel to the new parts". I told myself that's BS. I shouldn't hear any noises period. So I took it back again, and come to find out I needed a new pinion ring gear or whatever it is. That part should have been included with the Bearing Kit right? But anyway so they changed the ring gear and the noise went away. While my car was in the air on one of their machines, one mechanic was inside of the car pressing the gas to make the tires spin. Another mechanic yells "stop" and I don't know what the mechanic did that was inside my car but I heard a loud "clicking" noise..
When they were backing my car out in reverse, I heard a hard grinding noise. I looked at my tire and it looked like it was going to break. Now everytime I put my car in reverse and turn it slighty to the right or left, I hear/feel this grinding noise like I have loose parts back there. It feels like my rear end is about to drop.
What kind of damage could this shop have done? I need to take it to another shop to have them check it out...but I need to have some kind of idea. Could they have possibly damaged by axles?
Any help would be appreciated.... sorry for the long post.

I took it back 2 times already. I am pretty much done with those bustaz. I am already in the process of filing a complaint with the consumer affairs department. Once I find out what's wrong then I'll file the complaint. I just need some kind of idea what they could have done to cause this grinding noise. It only grinds when I am in reverse turing it slightly to the right or left.
Forgot to mention... that I brought this grinding noise issue to the owner's attention. He said that it was my brakes that was causing this grinding noise. Well, I've had my back brakes replaced by another shop (drum, shoes/pads) and it's still grinding when I drive it in reverse.
