Got a new noise from the T56...

This things always been noisy, but now I think that there is something wrong.
Anytime the clutch is engaged I have heard a half clunk/half grind noise from the trans. You can just barely feel it in the shifter handle.
It has done it with the cruise set at 75 going down the highway or sitting at a stoplight.
Only thing that I can think of is the input shaft, as I believe it is the only thing still spinning whether the car is moving or not. Right?
The stock clutch has 124k miles on it, but it still grips just fine as the last 80k miles have been all highway.
Any ideas on what I might be hearing?

Might be the throwout bearing.. T/O bearing is still spinning as well..

The throwout bearing sure is noisy...but I guess I've gotten used to that over the last 80k miles.
It almost seems like it's a gear mesh noise. Not really sure.
Can a worn t/o bearing make a half clunk/half grind noise?
What else could it possibly be...and is there any way to check?
What could cause a rattle in neutral at a stop and in gear going down the highway...cause I hear it both times?

the fork is not pulling on it therefore its just freely spinning around on the input shaft collar.. you could possilby have a bad pilot bearing as well..change it when you change your clutch out again..

Since the clutch still has plenty of grab I might see how long I can hold out before I replace it. I'll do a pilot bushing at the same time.
Now the damn thing wants to pop out of reverse too.
Aaggghhhh...it never ends.

I would recommend, when you take out your piliot bushing, to replace it with a roller bearing. I went to GM to buy a piliot bushing in the first place.. but it wasn't listed... only a roller bearing came up. I later found out that GM stopped making the bushing and had only the roller bearing.

Apparently the bearing is much better than the bushing... I've heard a couple of costly stories involving a bad bushing.
