GM Service Manager Info... Does this sound right?

Took the car in because of tranny whine, and tranny refusing to go into gear.

After a burnout or hard run down the track, the clutch would stick to the floor and slowly return. Tranny also had a constant whine.

The service manager informed me today that the previous owner of the car supposedly used the wrong type of clutch fluid. I believe he said it was petroleum based when it shouldn't have been (contaminated is what he actually said). Causing the lines to clog and swell. This was causing my shifting problems? Said that the clutch and master would need to be replaced.

Can you guys tell me if this sounds about right. He told me that parts alone would be $375 not including whatever their labor charges are.

Should I just have them put my car back together and get an aftermarket clutch and adjustable master?

Thanks

I'm buying a new updated GM Slave.. Spec Stage 3 Clutch and McLeod Adjustable Master Cylinder.

The whine sounds kind of like a bad ground on a stereo.. but from the center console.

Does anyone know if GM charges you for checking to see what is wrong with your car if they don't actually fix anything?
