GM additive in tranny

has anyone ever heard of putting the GM gear additive(rear end) in the transmission to stop the shuddering you get sometimes?? i had a guy from the chevy parts counter tell me it would stop the shuddering.

Probably be OK, if your manual trans takes gear oil and not DEXRON....

I thought shuddering came from the clutch. I can't see a transmission causing it.

What n2ceptor was trying to say is the T56 does not use gear oil.

Go back and read it again. He says that it would be ok, if his trans takes gear oil rather than trans fluid. He then ends the sentence with a smiley face.

He was being sarcastic.

I've never heard of anyone putting gear additive in the tranny. I think the guy at the chevy dealership was telling you some BS. I just recenty changed my tranny fluid actually and it went from having notchy shifts and sometimes grinding to smooth. -It might just all be in my head though lol.

I am not being sarcastic, Depending on the type of manual transmission will dictate the style of fluid.... As far as the smilely face, I always use one on the end of my statements...

I thought my previous statement was clear and direct.. I guess not???

The 95 will take Dextron III.

By the way, since you mentioned the additive pack, I just picked some up for the differential fluid change this weekend. $14.95 plus tax

Wild1 I pay $4.94 for it......

Try a going to a synthetic fluid....sometimes it helps in cooler temps.

Don't put the additive in it....its a friction modifier, it won't do anything

Since you're dealing with Dextron III, additives shouldn't be a problem. I've never documented rear-end additive for the A/T but have used a BG additive called Shudder Guard with some success.

I wouldn't recommend Shudder Guard on SP-III ATF, only Dextron and Mercon. Even though the label says it is safe with all A/T fluids, it isn't.

So, with Dextron III, an additive would be relatively safe. Again, I've never used anything but A/T additive for the A/T.
