Question gears

Could I just get new rear end gears or would I need to replace the whole rear end when I start running semi serious stuff. If I do need to get a whole new one, when would I need it?

auto cars arnt as bad on rears as an M6 car is, but once you start to get 1.8- 1.7 60 foot times it time to look into a moser, you can make them a little stronger by welding the axle tubes and getting a TA rear cover with the loading bolts for the main caps it does help a little but its still a 10 bolt and not going to take a lot of hard hits, slicks and a big stall will kill a rear.

So do you think that I should wait to get gears until I get a whole new rear end?

right now if all you have done is what is in your sig new gears and a little work will do, mosers dont come cheap, im even going to just build mine up for now and see how much it can take, with my th400 trans and 3500 converter coming it will put my 10 bolt to the test
