Re: gearing question

i'm thinking 3.73, but if you get some good trap speeds (and you probably will with that kind of power) you may even need to drop to a 3.42.

3.73 will have you topping out at 133mph.

Re: gearing question

Use this link www.f-body.org/gears to play with some numbers.

With stock tires (25.66"), 4.10's, and a 6500 RPM redline, you're looking at ~121 mph top speed in 3rd. With your engine, you'll likely surpass that. A lot!!

27" tires will get you to ~127 mph. 28" tires will run to ~132 mph.

If you go with 3.73's, you're good to ~133 mph with stock size tires! (~26") If you still needed more top end out of 3rd, you could do 27" or 28" tires and get as much as ~145 mph out of the car.

I honestly don't know how fast to expect your car to be, but you "might" even have to consider 3.42's possibly??

Re: gearing question

He will trap much lower than what the calc shows due to slippage at the tranny. This is not considered in the calculator.
