Gear and Install price

I just called a shop and he said 400.00 for 3.73s or 4.10s what ever i want and installed, that sounds like a good deal i think. he said one thing you might want to consider replacing but not nesecery would be the bearing for another 100.00 but for 400.00 thats the gears and installation is that a good rate?

Well, considering most prices for just the gears are around $179, then yes its a good deal. What brand of gears does the shop use? Locally shops around here get $250-350 in labor for the install. I would definitely buy a new installation kit which comes with pinion bearing, seal, and nut, crush sleeve (or solid spacer), carrier bearings, shims, and ring gear bolts (usually $100). Depending on vehicle mileage, look at the axle bearings, too. Also might be a good time to upgrade the limited slip ( again depending on mileage and condition...) basically, while you're in there now is a good time to freshen everything...the labor will be the same anyway...
