anyone know how to shift a firebird with a 4l60e out of drive? my roommate has a 96 v6 bird and the shifter is all jacked up. no matter what you had it in, it was still in drive. so i popped off the shifter and cover and all that, and the shifter cable itself seems frozen so i went under and could wiggle the linkage a little bit with a screwdriver, but dont know which way i need to move it. are frozen shifter cables a common thing? and quick fixes or tricks i dont know about?
