Flexplate - 168 to 153 ?

When my engine was built, my engine builder installed an externally balanced flexplate. Now I want to swap that out with a 153 tooth flexplate.

My question is, since it's an externally balanced flexplate, can I buy an externally balanced 153 tooth. Then take both of them to a shop and have the 153 flexplate plate balanced to the same weight as the 168 flexplate?

Thanks,

Jody J.

pretty sure there is a large difference in diameters between the two....not 100% though.

Yes, I picked up a PowerMaster 9600 which has bolt holes for a 153 or 168 tooth offset.

Cool, now to answer your question From my experience:

I took a flexplate and and a flywheel to a machine shop once to have them 'match balanced', so yes it can be done!
