Finally ordered my 12 bolt J I got
373
TA girdle
33 spline
1350 yoke
The dealer (LS1 Speed) said I would have to press on my break pads. Is this something I can do myself?? Any tips. They also said I would need to get the DS cut (how do I know how much??) and that I would need a new U Joint and 3” clamps. (Where do I get those???)

Any tips on this install would be great. I can’t wait to get this thing in and be able to drive my car again.

Also on a side note.. Exactly how hard can this rear be driven??? Anyone have any problems with there’s?? I really don’t plan I beating the s**t out of it but I do have a Street twin.

The brake calipers have to be pressed onto the axles. This can be done at most any machine shop that has a 10-ton press. i don't remember the exact length the driveshaft needs to be cut, but I'm thinking it's 1-1/2" or so. I cut mine off on a bandsaw and deburred the splines. If you had an automatic, you could buy either my old recut stocker or my Spohn HD unit. Both worked perfect until I switched to a TH400.

The U-joint you'll need is for the 1350 yoke. Not sure what the PN is, but check with your local parts store. Tell them it's for a 1350 and they should know. The 3" clamps are just regular exhaust clamps that you can get at any muffler shop. These are used to space the sway bar off the rear end cover. The stock sway bar will not clear the rear cover, especially w/ the TA cover. One thing to check is to make sure Moser either installed or at least sent the axle shims. They don't look very important, but I didn't get any with mine and once the rear was installed, the inner caliper face was just over 1/16" off the rotor. Everytime I hit a bump, it sounded like I had a rock stuck in my pads. I had to resurface the rear brakes to get everything to work. Once I change brake pads or rotors, I'll have to take the axles out and fix this.

I changed my fluid after 200 miles and took it easy for the first 500. It just so happened that I clicked 500 miles as I came upon a new Z06. Now that you've got a killer rear end, start checking the prices of ET Streets and a set of Draglites and watch the ETs drop and the MPH increase.

Oh yeah, the rear end will be a little noisier than the stocker. It may get louder once you get a wear pattern in the gears. This is just something I had to get used to.

It's not that bad. I only hear mine on deceleration.
