Finally getting 3.73's!!!!!!

Well i finally did it. I got a set of 3.73's. I have the stupid freakin mother humping tree hugging hippie 2.73 gears right now. Am I going to feel a pretty big differance?? Please say yes. I bought a set of Richmond 3.73's made for a series 2 carrier. What kind of gains in the 1/4 would u say are feasable?? I ran a 8.76 at about 78.xx miles an hour in the 1/8th mile with the 2.73's. With a custom tune and these 3.73's what could I be looking at now?? Thanks alot, Dustin.

Dustin,

glad to see that you finally got some gears!! I droped 3/10 off my 1/4 time when I swapped my 2.73 for a 3.73 the only thing is that you gotta hook up for them to show you the difference they make at the track, on the street it feels like a new car!

I would agree with what was said above. I would expect you would lose 3 tenth's in the 1/4 if you hook up.

Re: Finally getting 3.73's!!!!!!

Make it hook, otherwise you may gain ~3 tenths in the 1/4. The first time I did gears and I put in 3.73's, I ran the exact same time as with 2.73's (13.43) and actually ~1 mph slower. I don't know if it was just a bad night for the car or what?! I know that my tires sucked though.

Now with the 4.10's (and GOOD tires) I've shaved more than 4 tenths off my 1/4 mile time, and I've picked up over 2 mph.
