F & Y body tranny differences (T56)

What are the differences between the F and Y body transmissions? Are the cases the same? How about the internals? I would imagine either the input or output shafts are different.

I guess what I am getting at will a tranny from a C5 bolt into a F-body with slight changes?

On another note, will a tranny from an LS1F bolt to an LT1F? I know the bellhousings and hydrolics are different, but are the trannys themselves?

Thanks for any info!

I believe C5 corvettes have the transmission in the axle. Also, I thought I heard the earlier ones have monster cases, so no.

An LS1 T56 will NOT bolt to an LT1 engine. The input shafts are different, different flywheel/clutch, and that stuff.
