ES poly trans mount Q...

i just installed the poly mount and noticed the mount raised the transmission up. when driving around below 60 is not that bad, but around 70 on the interstate is terrible. can i just make shims to lower the transmission mount to stock setting? if so how thick should i make them?

I have the exact experience with my 95 Z28. It is obnoxious enough that I am seriously considering yanking it out and going back to the "break every 6 months" OEM mount. The ride is adversely affected at EVERY speed, but horrible at 70+ MPH.

I bet it probably just raised the tranny back up to stock height your just experiencing the heard of extra vibration. The stocker probably settled so much over time and deterioration that's why your thinking the new one raised it. I personally never noticed a difference in vibration, but if you don't like it you can switch to an LS1 mount. About in the middle between a stocker for an LT1 and a Poly one as far as firmness and reliability.

Same problem here. My car is an M6 and anything over 70 has a really wierd vib. I bought a stock one from advanced for $10 and it is going back on there. I don't have the stock torque arm mounted to the tranny though, so that will make my cheap mount last.

Re: ES poly trans mount Q...

Oh man my poly viabrates. I didnt take the people who complained about it seriously. Yeah i have my adj t/a at around -4, might go up to -3 BUT when i had the stock one with the same settings it did NOT viabrate. Yesterday i got my car up to 120 and i thought my passanger seat was going to fly out my window along with my center console.

I do have an idea. I have the ES poly mount which gives you the mount and a metal bracket. So now you basically have the metal from the mount mated to the metal bracket then to your tranny. So thats basicaly metal to metal. What do you guys think if i sprayed that metal bracket with something like that rubber undercoating spray? I also have dynomat layin around maybe i can put it between the tranny and metal plate, and between the plate and mount. Any opinions?

HOw long have you guys had your ES mounts installed? The reason I ask is the mount needs some time to 'break in'. After a couple weeks you should notice the vibrations going away. All three of the cars I have had those mounts in did the exact same thing, but then went away over time.

Re: ES poly trans mount Q...

Your driveshaft is mostly causing most of the vibration.. try rotating the shaft 180 deg. and see if it get's better.. Vibe is one of the sacrifice's involved w/ the poly mount's.. worth the security IMHO..

That works or like you thought you can sim the cross member down
to allow for the hight of the bracket and yes the bracket causes the
angle at the end of the trans to be incorrect.

I noticed a lot more vibration from the drivetrain.. i also have the ES poly mount in my 99 LS1.. will it get better, or should i take the metal 'spacer' out and reinstall it??

btw.. love the way my car responds now... i didnt know then (when i bought my car 4 months ago that my tranny mount was broken).. wow what a difference

Exclamation Re: ES poly trans mount Q...

The "spacer" is actually a pre-load plate and should NOT be discarded.

Check your flywheel for cracks or missing weights; if it's OK, check your driveshaft ( a VERY common problem in these vehicles ).

In my case, a new flywheel ( about $60 ) absolutely cured my problem. Took about an hour, start to finish.
