Driveshaft Vibration?
Driveshaft Vibration?
aight guys, i dont drive the car much, but i put in some Motive 4.10s in my 1996 SS. everything went well and seemed fine. then once i got it up to freeway speeds there is a vibration. its there whether im on or off the gas, or clutch in or clutch out. it feels like the driveline to me, but i dont know why it would have started right after the gear swap.
i had a leaky axle seal so i took it all apart to fix that, and the pattern looked good and the gears are quiet, and there are no metal shavings in the oil.
when i removed the driveline to do the gear swap, i marked it along with the yoke, but when i put it back together i couldnt see the marks anymore. would it really make a difference if i put the DL back onto the yoke in a different position which would cause it to vibrate?
thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Driveshaft Vibration?
The 4.10 gears cause the driveshaft to rotate faster and that is probably why you have a vibration now. You can try rotating the driveshaft 180 degrees. GM's fix for the problem was an aluminum shaft but only some cars got it. You may need a new shaft or have yours balanced. From what I have read having a factory steel shaft balanced doesn't always work.
