Driveshaft issues...
Snapped my DS at the track a while back and just now getting around to fixing it. Well, I got my new DS and I can only get it to go inside the tranny 2"...It needs to go another 1/2-3/4" before I can even think about getting the rear u-joints to go in the rear-end yoke. I still lack atleast 1.5-2" before the DS yoke bottoms out in the tranny. The DS is the correct length because I used Denny's diagram to size it.
When it does stop in the tranny it gets stuck if I try to go any further and you just about have to use a rubber mallet to push it back out..
Anyone know if there is an alignment bushing in there they may have been boogered up?
The splines all look straight from what I can see and I even ran a triangle file in there to take any burrs off the output shaft..
Any info will help..
Thanks
Cody

You should not have to pound the driveshaft into the transmission. There is a bearing/bushing in the tail of your transmission that the slipyoke rides on. Either the new slipyoke is oversized, or your previous driveshaft damaged the bushing when it broke.
