Driveshaft is hitting tunnel and getting carved!!!!
I recently installed pro kit springs and noticed that the car squats more at a launch which is great...but, my aluminum DS is now hitting the parking brake cables that are mounted in the tunnel. The 2 metal brackets holding the cables are carving up my DS badly under loaded situations. Is this common? I can't drive the car, what do I need to do?
Do I need better bump stops or what? I have no vibration problems. I tried to increase the compression on the rear shocks, did nothing, still getting carved. Getting stressed out, seems like every mod I do has a + & - effect.

Re: Driveshaft is hitting tunnel and getting carved!!!!
I hear ya about the plus/negative effect! I am having the same problem except in my case it is the BMR torque arm hitting the parking brake cable bracket. I am going to try and relocate it but I haven't quite figured out how yet.
Re: Driveshaft is hitting tunnel and getting carved!!!!
I think I'm going to try and shorten the length of my TA, put a -4 pinion angle and see if that minimizes the slicing of my DS. My bump stops look old, I'll replace them and if need be, get some bump stop spacers from SLP. Should this do the trick?.....anyone?
Re: Driveshaft is hitting tunnel and getting carved!!!!
OK. Heres what I ended up doing for my clearance problem. I removed the drive shaft so I could get at the parking brake cable bracket. Drilled out the spot welds (I had 7 of them), and moved the bracket towards the driver side about an 1nch. and tack welded it back.
It appears that in its original position that the 2 tabs are center almost dead above the torque arm and the driveshaft. Moving it over gives more clearance for both. I'll confirm the drive clearance when I put in my aluminum shaft.

Re: Driveshaft is hitting tunnel and getting carved!!!!
FYI....the length of my torque arm was too long ie the tranny end was flush with the mount and there was no play for any further sliding into the bushing. This caused the DS / diff end to come up more.
I shortened the length to a stock torque arm and rechecked the pinion angle, it seems 90% better, my new poly bump stops from the dealer are going in tonight to hopefully eliminate the "rear pro kit spring dilemma".... many posts on that one!
PS- the OE bump stops are rubber...new ones from dealer are now poly.
