Thumbs up Dreaming of a 6 speed...

Hey whuts up everyone, I was wondering how much it would cost to make my automatic a 6 speed? I am just dreaming here because it is not going to happen until I get out of college in about 2 more years but could you please guesstimate how much I am looking at if I pay someone to do it with the parts needed vs me doing it myself considering that I have someone already to do it. Thank you for keeping my dream alive even though I know it will be at least $3000

Don't waste your money having someone do the swap for you. Just have a couple of buddies help you, hell you could even do it yourself (it's been done before). I've seen the average cost of this swap all said and done for ~$2000. Components you need are: tranny/bellhousing/shifter, crossmember, pedals, master/slave cylinder, flywheel/clutch/pressure plate, and a PCM calibration.

From time to time you can find complete swap kits for sale on this messageboard and ebay so just keep your eyes open. Again, this swap isn't that hard and can easily be done in a weekend. So many people have done this swap before and there are a few awesome walkthroughs on how to do the whole swap so it's not like the blind leading the blind. You will no regret the 6spd

You can do the swap by yourself in less than a week. Ebay or else on here is a good place to look for T56s, you'll want all the other parts too, by themselves they can add up to a lot. Make sure and do it one step at a time, don't get ahead of yourself. And don't try to take shorcuts or anything, get it done right the first time. You might as well buy a new aftermarket clutch & get the flywheel resurfaced, unless the donor has one new or barely used. I got mine done for about $1500 (high mileage T56, freeway miles, almost new clutch). The clutch hydraulics didn't like moving around, I had to replace them.

Do a search, you'll find a ton of info. Don't let any T56s make it to the junkyard. They're really a great piece compared to the 4L60E.
