Down shift to first

I just had my stock transmission rebuilt, Upgraded pump, new converter, corvette servo, shift kit that says Down shift to any gear blah blah, and I told the guy I wanted to be able to pull it down into first gear, and of course he said yeah yeah with this kit its no problem blah blah, of course with a stock 97 z28 console shifter you cant pull it down into first. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to change that right? Without buying some high dollar b&m shifter. I'm sure there must be a stop or something to remove, does anyone know?

Thanks for your time.

Its a trans-go kit incase its a need to know.

I just found a site that said you have to notch the actuator to be able to downshift into 1st but the photo was very bad..lol.

Right under the "C" you see a silver tang (for lack of a better word). On a 3.23 or 2.73 geared car, there is a rubber/plactic stop to prevent going into 1st. Just cut it back and the shifter will allow 1st gear selection.

And one more thing - Thanks Shoebox

The way things have seemed to been going lately (mods that should take minutes take hours lol) I was debating on whether or not to look at this tonight, but i figured what the hell, it takes less then 5 minutes just to pop the top console cover off, there i saw the tab plain as day, cut it with a razor knife whole thing took maybe 15 minutes lol. Easiest mod I've done recently, now I can troll through meets in first like a manual for that quick response down low.

Thanks again.

These cars most definately take lots of time to work on. That is why shop rates are so high on them. It took me 2 plus weekends to install a set of headers. Plus they like to bite. I've gone through at least 6 pairs of mechanics gloves since I bought mine.
But on the other hand, they are fun to drive.
