Which do you feel is stronger?

a stock 10 bolt or a stock 9", also give me your input on IF your running a mild 9" rear (none Nodular case) behind your F bodies, how is it holding up? what HP level are you at? Stuff like that. I would have put this in the Diff. section, but not too many seem to go there, so i'll post it here.

Thanks

A semi busted 9" is better than the 10 bolt.

Are you kidding? A 9" in any form is better than the weak 10-bolts they put in our cars.

Ok, so let me clairify a bit more, a USED 4 pinion Trac-lock 9" NON Nodular C7AW-E 3rd. member vs. a stock 10 bolt

four pin doesn't make it a track lock, just a stronger one wheel spin, four pins = four spider gears, two pins = two spider gears weaker but stronger than a 10
doesn't look like a track lock to me, haven't seen one in a while, but no room for clutches
don't worry about the nodular case, not needed unless crazy hp and clutch dumps on big slicks

maybe one of the rear end experts can rebuff me

Ok, i'll see what he says, i e-mailed him, he seems to sell alot of these 9" 3rd. members & i'm assumeing he rebuilds them too, he did list it as a 4 pinion trac-lock posi, i did notice he had the same pic in a different add that he was selling, so i'll see what he says, he does have alot of great feedback from buyers for these 9" members.

I glued two sticks together and it's holding better than the 10 bolt ever did.

You do realize that there is a lot more involved than just the center section?

What do you mean? i'm getting a moser axle/houseing package & this 3rd. member is complete, other then maybe a panhard bar issue (which i was told would be fine) & a custom D shaft (which i'm getting), what other issues would you'de say i will have? My brakes/calipers will bolt up, torque arm shouldn't be an issue either, plus it comes with studs & some other brakets for a simple install, all i need is a 3rd. member.

I called Strange Engineering today about that 4 pin deal, he told me they can also be a Traction-loc & will have spider gears, the 4 pin doesn't mean 4 spider gears, they are pins in the guts for added strength.

sounds like you have it under control, good luck and take some pictures
how much is the moser package setting you back?

" the 4 pin doesn't mean 4 spider gears, they are pins in the guts for added strength."
what the heck does that mean?, sounds painful

LOL, don't get me to lyin, i don't know what it means really, i talked with the guy i bought the 3rd. member from, he asured me it is a posi (trac-loc) with 4 spider gears 4 pin set-up, the moser package set me back 1000.00 shipped, so i'll be out around 1450.00, then another 300.00 for a custom driveshaft, then i'll throw some MT radials on & be looking for 13.2-13.3 slips, i'm at 13.7s now with street tires & 2.1 60ft times, it'll be nice running low 13s with 158XXX miles & a stick , thats my goal anyways.
