Do the wheels have to be off to get the c-clips out?

Question Do the wheels have to be off to get the c-clips out?

Cuz I am having one HELL of a time gettin them out

Also, how does one go about putting a new reluctor ring on?

yes, wheels off, brakes off, rotors off, cross pin bolt and cross pin removed, push in axles and c-clip will fall out then pull the axle out do the same for the other side, then take out the diff main cap bolts and the carrier will pry out , then take it to your work bench and take off the old reluctor ring and install the new one


if you have never done a ring and pinion install of diff work its probly not a job for you

Its best to use a stick magnet to get the C clips out, very frustrating without one.
Once you get the axle pushed in its a matter of seconds to pull the Cclip out or install one with a magnet.

Make sure you put the caps back on the same way they were removed along with any shims that come out.
