Do they all do it??????

Every manual 4th gen f-body ive had and even my Tremec 3550 in my Mustang had a weird gear rattle in the trans if you lugged it from a dead stop. Or even going slow and kinda lugged in down in the RPM's. Is this normal. Ive heard that the Tremecs in the Mustangs it was normal but what about the 6 speeds? Its just a little rattle in the trans.

My Corvette does it sometimes from a stop. Sounds like a piece of junk taking off.

All six speed trannys do it, some worse than others. Some think it is something called "gear clash".

Mine does it. It got even worse after I put in my Hurst short throw shifter.

It doesn't have anything to do with what shifter you have

All T56's do it. The manufacturers (BorgWarner and Tremec) call it gear rattle, and they say it's normal.

I say quit lugging it.

In a sense you are correct, however an aftermarket shifter lacking rubber insulators will cause the noise to be noticably louder.

For that matter, removing the rubber isolators from the stock shifter will do the same.

Is that cause the shifter rattles then?

No, as previously stated, it's caused by the gears inside the transmission.

Having a shifter with no rubber isolators just makes the sound louder in the passenger compartment.

Gotcha - it must transmit the noise into there or something.
