DIY stall converter install

Debating if i want to tackle the converter install myself, I have access to a trans jack and have all the supporting tools needed.

How hard is this to do? is a lift necessary?
BTW this is for a 95 lt1 4l60e

The most "difficult" part is unbolting everything to get to the TC. A lift is not
necessary. How many miles are on the car?

I did my first and second one myself.

First one I either botched or the tranny was already on it's way out or the converter took a major crap on it.

Second one so far went without a hitch.

I used a lift both times (on base). I don't know how you guys do without it. Getting those top tranny bolts has to be a pain. The 2 things I remember about the installs are to fill the converter before installing and to make sure its seated on the tranny all the way.

i did it on jack stand and if you are only doing a converter you dont have to take the tranny all the way out just drop it, put the stall in and lift it right back up. with a tranny jack it is easy.

I put my car on wooden "wheel stands" that I made, which gets the car
up about 18" at the belly pan. At that height, I can *very* comfortably
do anything under the car (and very safely, I might add) - dropped the
stock tranny out with no problems (no clearance issues/etc), installed
headers, installed a new FLT tranny with Yank TC.

Getting to the upper tranny bolts was a breeze, actually ... remove the
crossmember and let the back of the tranny down - I was able to get
to the bolts with an 18" extension and socket (3/8" drive that is).

I had a "concern" about mileage on the tranny, but it seems you're in
good shape on that end.

I had ZERO problems getting the bellhousing bolts.

ZERO.

Get a LONG extension and one swivel connection and you call undo all 6 bolts in less than 5 minutes. Minus the second one up from the driver side. that one requires a 14 mm open end wrench and is STILL cake.
