Well, this is the first F-Body I have ever owned, and for that matter, the first rwd car that I have owned and I was wondering if it was normal for there to be a vibration in what seems to be the differential when I am idling? It does it really bad when it is cold outside, but it does it once in a while when it is warmer. I had a leaking diff when i bought the car, but I got that fixed, so i dont know if that would have anything to do with it. Its not that bad and when im driving I dont notice it at all, its just when im driving really slowly, like 5mph and when im idling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alot in advance!

Sounds like a "tune up" issue, it's just causing the exhaust to vibrate...maybe a vacuum leak? It would smooth out when above an idle...

 

I dont know about that. It doesnt do this in the summer when the tempature is warm. It only does it when its cold out, so i think that would rule out the exhaust cuz then it would do it all the time. Anybody else with ideas or explanations?

 

By idling do you mean rolling with your foot off the gas pedal, or sitting still??
Some tires, especially bias plies will get flat spots from sitting a while in the cold, then they vibrate for a while until they warm up good..
If you get vibrations moving slow like around a parking lot especially when turning it could be rear end chatter, from lack of, or broken down friction modifier in the gear oil. Or really strong posi springs...

 

ive also been expierencing vibrations from my rear exactly like this....always when im in idle sitting at a stop light or something the rear will vibrate and today the vibrating got louder when i was at a light coming home from work...it seems to go away after a little but it always comes back usually when i first drive the car for the first time of the day. Ever figure out what your problem was? Also the drivers rear side of the car did take a hit and maybe it could have knocked some things out of alignment?

No, never really figured out what it was, just kinda got used to it and took it as normal. It goes away fairly quickly after the car is warmed up so I dont know
