Difference between V6 and 99LS1 tranny?

Curious of the differences between a V6 and a LS1 trans? My buddies trans just went up and someone is telling him that it looks like he has a V6 trans in his car? They said the input shaft looks longer than earlier 4L60E's hes seen? I have no clue about either of them? He just got the trans out of the car so he can find a place to rebuild it and hes now wondering if this guy is correct? He doesnt want rebuild a trans from a V6 if thats what it is?

Thanks in advance,
Rich

The engine to tranny housing pattern is different than it would be for a V6. So no, he doesn't have a V6 tranny. I have no idea if the spline count and input shaft length and all that is the same or not.
