Did all SS's come with aluminum driveshafts?

We just got a 1999 Camaro SS, which has a lot of aftermarket parts, I noticed
it has an aluminum driveshaft while pulling the blown rear end, is that stock?

My 97ss had a steel driveshaft. A vibration problem. Now I have a Denny HD Alum with a Moser 12 bolt rear. (97ss 383 - D1 - M6)

All 98+ F-bodies had aluminum driveshafts, including V6's, Z28s, and SS's.

That's not true. My bone stock 98 Z28 was equiped with a 2.73 gears and a steel driveshaft.

Did you buy it new?

It had 43k on the clock when I bought it so anything could have been done. But I highly doubt it. I read on LS1.com that the 2.73 cars came with the steel shaft also coded as GU2. When You ordered the the GU5 option it came with the aluminum shaft and the 3.23 rear. The same probably went for the 6 speed cars.

That makes sense, the lower gears will make the driveshaft spin faster, so it
would vibrate more. I am installing a Z28 rear from a 2000, switching it to use
the traction control axles and backing plates. I would assume its a 2.73, which
we wanted anyway. It has the GU5 / 3.23 code on the door.
