Dead Torsen?

Yesterday I couldn't make donuts in a car park when it was raining, it seems like the torsen is working sometimes and not working sometimes. As far as I know my car has a torsen (1997 SS), are torsens rebuildable or what should be done for a dead torsen?

Did you buy it new? I think the Torsen was an option. Can't remember since it's been soooo long ago. If you didn't buy it new thne it's possible it's been replaced w/ an Auburn...

AFAIK, every v8 4th gen came with a LSD. That lsd was the torsen style. The auburn was just an upgrade over that.

The Zexel Torsen was a an "upgrade" option.... at least for '96.

Re: Dead Torsen?

I paid for an upgrade to a torsen diff on a 97 SS M6. I sort of liked it. I recently broke the 7 1/2. Went with a Moser 12 with Detroit tru-trac - 33 spline. I think they make a tru-trac for a 7 1/2, Both c_clip and no c_clip types.

I'm the second owner but I have the SLP manual and according to it it has the torsen option, but I never opened the case to check it.
Anyway suppose it is a torsen what should I do?

So what kind of lsd do they come with stock. I didn't know that there were two available lsds as upgrades.

I don't know if the Zexel is rebuildable. Since the Zexel has gears instead of clutches it's hard to imagine why it would be failing to distribute the torque.
I'd crack the diff. and see what you got first...

All 93 and up f-bodys have limited slip diff.

Not sure about V6's. I meant all 93-up V8 f-bods...
