Don't want to insult your intelligence, but have you had a higher stall converter before? If not, what you may be feeling is the torque converter slipping. Does the transmission feel like it is slipping at higher RPM?

i havent had a high stall converter before no.. but 2800 isnt concidered high.. my mechanic has a 4,000 stall in his car and he said this didnt feel right. it feels like its sticking in gears this is a lockup converter and when i get over 40mph its supposed to lock up and it doesnt i dont start really going until like 3k rpms or higher..

That sounds allot like an install problem to me. If it slips in every gear tha usually mean low line pressure in the tranny. I have a 700-R4 in my Jeep and it was slipping like crazy and the torque converter wasn't locking up. I put a trans-go kit in it and had to run a couple wires for the lock-up. Now it shifts fairly hard, no slip and the converter locks-up, LOVE-IT! Another thing a messed with was the Throttle-Valve or Kick-down cable up at the motor. It is adjustable and directly affects line pressure and shift points.
